About Me
I'm Josh Thompson. Comedian. People told me to run for mayor of Toronto. I thought they were joking. Then I filed.
I live here. I walk out the door and I can feel it. People look tired. The street doesn't feel like it belongs to the people paying for it.
I'm not going to give you a twenty-year political story. I don't have one. I have eyes. I have a mouth. I filed.
God help Toronto. Come have it anyway.
My Experience
Business and marketing, then comedy. I got better at talking to people than I ever was at the office.
Years of holding a room. That's the job now. Who knew?
Platform
What I actually give a shit about
2nd Priority: Hold Municipal Institutions Responsible
TTC. The boards. The clinics. We pay. We ask what we got. Somebody answers.
Change Sankofa back to Yonge and Dundas
Honour the place without hating anybody.
Also it's Yonge and Dundas. You know what I'm talking about.
Taxes & Spending
Axe the tax. Cut the spending.
When they say there's no money, where did the other money go. Results. Not a standing ovation for the receipt.
Housing
Build the houses. People need a door that closes.
Sometimes the city has to build shit because people need the shit. Build the homes.
Why I'm Doing This
I was a comedian. People told me to run. I listened.
I'm going to say what I think. I'm going to make jokes. I'm going to piss people off. I'm going to listen when I'm wrong. And I'm going to fight for this city.
